ABOUT OUR FLEET
Our classic traditional narrowboat fleet includes PERSEUS; GARDENIA & MILTON converted historic working narrow canal boats with forward-facing ‘bus’ style passenger seating and no tables. They are fully enclosed with large sliding windows throughout the cabin. These offer an English Language guided tour commentary.
-
Our comfort cruiser wide barge ALFRED LEROY has table booth seating, a small front outside deck, onboard bar and refreshments, heated in the colder months, with retractable roof sections for dry and bright summer days. There is an onboard toilet. There is no guided tour commentary on this service, usually background music instead.
-
PERSEUS is our oldest historic working vessel, in its 86th year and was built in 1935 by Harland & Wolff who also built the famous ship ‘Titanic’. Look out for the original rivets along the sides of the boat. National registered historic ship number 267 Previously named ‘Waterbuck’ between 1960 & 1970. Used to transport cargo by The Grand Union Canal Carrying Company (GUCCC), before transition to British Waterways who converted it in 1958 to become a waterbus to and from London Zoo.
-
GARDENIA another national historic ship, built in 1947 by Yarwoods of Northwich. Used to carry goods for Fellows Clayton & Morton until transition to British Waterways and was the flagship for their ‘keep the channel clear’ campaign.
-
MILTON previously named ‘Milton Princess’, transported pottery in the midlands before being converted to passenger use.
